Venus Williams

Venus WilliamsVenus Williams is the elder of the two Williams sisters and is twice a winner of the US Open. She is also the reigning Wimbledon Champion. She has won a total of seven Singles Grand Slam events, five at Wimbledon and two here. She has also been in six other Grand Slam finals; losing five of them, incredibly, to Sister Serena.

Venus has always been known for her power game and it’s her awesome power that many of the tour professionals fail to equal. She has the second fastest serve ever recorded an incredible 128.8 mph.

She is an attacking base liner, but is equally skilful at the net when serve and volley tactics are needed. She is very quick and very tall, attributes that make her a very intimidating opponent. She has a very powerful two handed back hand, which is her stronger side, but she has been known to be weak in the forehand department from time to time. Venus has been working very hard on her forehand this year and  took a break from the WTA, to prepare herself for the upcoming Grand Slams. It paid off too with a win in the final against Serena at Wimbledon. She will have a great price in the US Open Odds to win again this week.

For the last few years, many observers have been asking if the era of the Williams sister’s has come to an end, but every year one of the sisters comes fighting back to take a title. If Venus has been training hard and freeing herself from injury then there is no reason why she can’t repeat her unexpected feats at Wimbledon for the last 2 years. She will certainly be one of our US Open Tips this year.

Venus is currently ranked eighth in the world. Take out a US Open Free Bet on Venus Williams.
