US Open 2009 Tips
This is our opportunity to make an assessment of who we think will win both the womens and mens singles titles at the US Open 2009. Selecting US Open mens and womens tips is not that easy because we think the candidates are quite obvious in both competitions. Nonetheless if using the US Open Free bet offers you may stand a good chance of earning a tidy profit by following them.
Firstly we believe that the mens singles is probably the easier to judge because there are not many of the men who seriously believe that they can win.
The first one to consider therefore is reigning Champion, Roger Federer. But he has had a very dodgy time for the last few months in which time he has lost his number one tag to Rafael Nadal, he also lost his Wimbledon title to Nadal and before that he lost his Australian Title to Djokovic. This is his last Grand Slam title, but unless his confidence is quickly restored he will be surrendering this title too.
The obvious choice to succeed him is Nadal, but question marks have been raised about him before at this tournament. He has only ever made one quarter final at Flushing before and that was a couple of years ago. However he has started to win on hard courts this season, winning the Toronto Masters and the Olympic games.
Djokovic was runner up last year, but avenged the defeat in that final to Federer when winning the Australian Open in January. That was on the a similar surface to this and he openly admits that these are the surfaces he likes best.
We think the winner will be one of these three but will tip Nadal because he is certainly on the crest of a wave right now and has the pyschological advantage over his two biggest rivals. Nadal can be backed at 7/4 in the US Open Betting.
We also like the look of Juan Martin Del Potro, he is a 19 year with superstardom written all over him. He has won his last four tournaments before the US Open and with US Open Odds of 50/1 is our each way suggestion.
In the womens singles we are going to plump for Serena Williams, we know she will be favourite but with Henin no longer on the circuit, she is certainly the best player. Her odds are reasonable too at around the 3/1 mark and well worth taking. Her biggest danger is probably her sister, Venus, if she plays anywhere close to her Wimbledon form she may take all the beating. The two are due to meet in the quarter final.
