Serena Williams
Twice a winner here at the US Open, Serena, the younger of the two Williams sister's was once purported to be unbeatable in the Ladies game. However injury and possible complacency had seen her hit a definate trough and her World ranking went down to as far as 14 a couple of years ago. This year, despite a disappointing performance in the French Open, where she went out in the third round, has seen a 'Serena' resurgence and although not winning on all fronts, she has won two tough Tournaments and is most certainly getting the results that a player of her stature should expect. She was also runner up to sister Venus at Wimbledon last month. Her ranking is back up to four in the World and in the WTA Tour race she has rocketed up to third, behind Sharapova and Jankovic. Her form could just be coming into line in time for her home Major and she will probably start favourite in the US Open Betting to win. Check out the US Open Odds for her price to win.
Her action packed baseline game, combined with probably the best service on the Tour, is an awesome sight when she is in full flow and it is little wonder that she has won all four Grand Slam's.
In fact Serena has won a total of eight Grand Slam's, amazingly, she has beaten her older sister, Venus in five of them, although Venus got the better of her this year in the final at Wimbledon. She is a good US Open Tip to win this year and a US Open Free bet should be strongly considered.
