Marion Bartoli
Marion Bartoli really rose to prominence at Wimbledon 2007, where she reached the final only to lose out to Venus Williams. Marion took several big scalps en route to the final, including the world number one at the time, Justine Henin in the Semi Final. Her performance gave her a top ten ranking and she became the highest ranked player in France. Wimbledon thus far has been her first and only Grand Slam Final. She ius currently ranked 13 in the world.
Marion plays with in an unorthodox style and relies heavily on intensity, using her double handed forehand and backhand very aggressively.
This style was developed on the advice of her father, who is still her coach today. He tries to encourage his daughter to play in the style of Monica Seles and his strategy has often paid off. She has won three WTA Tournaments since turning Professional in 2000. This year so far has been disappointing, her first round exit in her home Grand Slam, the French Open, that took place in May, did not do her confidence any good, but she has bounced back before and she is capable of doing so again. At Flushing we can expect her to be as aggressive as ever and maybe cause a surprise or two; She actually reached the fourth round here last year, which to date is her best US Open Tennis performance.
