David Nalbandian

David Nalbandian - US Open Tennis 2010

US Open David NalbandianDavid Nalbandian is Argentina’s number one player and the 7th ranked player in the world. Nalbandian holds the distinction of being one of only three players currently on the ATP tour, who has appeared in the semi finals of all four Grand Slam Tournaments, including the US Open Odds. He is also one of only two players who has beaten the top three players in the world in the same tournament and he is only the third man to have beaten Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal since they assumed the number one and number two positions in the world. Moreover, he did this in consecutive events last Autumn, beating Federer in the Madrid Masters and then Nadal in the Paris Masters.

He has a very aggressive baseline attacking game, but can easily adapt to an all court situation when necessary. He possesses a brilliant return of serve, is very nimble around the court and employs some of the deftest shots in the game to win points regularly. He can actually do anything on a tennis court, including serve and volley, and if he could become consistent and injury free he could easily win a Grand Slam. The inconsistencies in his game cost him dearly in the French Open this year after he went out in Round 2 after being two sets to love up. He had been the 6th seed.

He came closest to winning a Grand Slam in 2002 when he reached the final at Wimbledon, but went down tamely to Lleyton Hewitt in straight sets. Nalbandian is one of the players the very top seeds want to avoid.

He has a total of eight ATP wins and has also been runner-up in eight events too. He has already been in two finals this year winning one and losing one.
