Daniela Hantuchova

Daniela Hantchukova is currently ranked number 10 in the world and has a career total of three WTA wins and a host of runners-up spots. Her form has gone and up and down over the last few years. From a career high ranking of five in 2003, she has been up and down the list ever since and it seems that she is going to find it difficult to break into the top four. She did however achieve her best Grand Slam performance of her career, earlier this year when she reached the semi-finals of the Australian Open, it was the first time she had been beyond the quarter finals, and in fact was the first time she had even reached a Grand Slam quarter final since 2003.

She won her first WTA Tournament last year, when she won at Indian Wells, but that was her first final victory since 2003. However with her excellent showing in the Australian Open there are good signs that the 25 year old Slovakian is making some sort of come back in time for this year's US Open Tennis.

She plays from the baseline and has a powerful two handed backhand which on its day is unerringly accurate.
