Ana Ivanovic - US Open Tennis 2010

US Open Tennis Ana IvanovicAna Ivanovic is a former World No.1 Tennis player who has suffered a severe dip in form over the last year or two and is lookign to make a comeback. Ana won the 2008 French Open and she looked set to be on top of the game for years to come but she seems to have cracked under the pressure and has slipped down the World Rankings to outside the top 50. She seemed to struggle with the weight of expectation on her but she clearly is a talented girl who may just find form at the right time.

She made the Major breakthrough at the 2008 French Open when she won her first Grand Slam event and rose to the top of the World Rankings with it. 2009 was a struggle and it started with a 3rd Round loss in the Australian Open, to Russian player Alisa Kleybanova. She was defending her French Open crown at Roland Garros but she was disappointed again to be knocked out in the 4th Round to Victoria Azarenka.

2010 started little better but in recent weeks she has slowly but surely started to find her feet again, the Serb reached the Smei-Finals in Cincinnati recently and looks to be at home on the hard courrts. It is hard to see her winning the US Open this year but she will be a dangerous unseeded player in the draw, if things go her way then it would be no surprise to see her claim a few big scalps.

Ana plays an attacking baseline game, relying on power, depth and placement of her forehand strokes. She has already earned a great reputation for her passing shots. Over the last two years she has worked tirelessly on her net play and has improved out of all proportion. She has a very good two-handed backhand, but when she can, she will always play the inside out forehand. Her serve sometimes let her down and has often cost her important games. She serves forcefully, but not always accurately and she has a good tendency to hit aces off her second serve. She has been known to win matches when her 1st serve percentage has been as low as 40%.
